Awards season is upon us with the Golden Globes kicking off the year before the Oscars and BAFTAs grace our screens.

To defeat the January blues, actors, directors and production crews are hoping to get their hands on a golden trophy given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

The 2023 awards celebrate the best of the entertainment industry from the previous year while also marking the 80th anniversary of the awards ceremony.

With just a couple of days to go as the nominees add final preparations to their red carpet looks, PeopleWorld takes a look at everything Golden Globes:

Who are the favourites to win?

Irish film ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ claimed the most nominations for this year’s Golden Globes gaining eight nods including categories ‘Best Picture’ and ‘Best Director’.

Despite the usual saying ‘quality over quantity’, the stunning film is expected to take home some of the trophies from the Beverly Hilton Hotel with others such as James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water and Pinocchio showing as favourites too.

Another film tipped to do well is Everything, Everywhere All At Once starring Michelle Yeoh and Jamie Lee Curtis, who has six nominations overall.

In terms of actors who are the frontrunners for the 2023 awards include Margot Robbie, Colin Farrell, Brendan Fraser and Anya Taylor-Joy for their respective roles.

Who is the host?

For the 80th anniversary, the Golden Globes will welcome comedian and actor Jerrod Carmichael as its host.

With credits including Transformers: The Last Night, Neighbours and The Disaster Artist to his name as well as his own Emmy-award winning special, Jerrod takes to the Beverly Hilton stage in a few days time.

While Jerrod orchestrates the main ceremony, other celebrity presenters include Quentin Tarantino, Ana De Armas and Billy Porter who will read out the winners.

How can I watch it?

Due to the time difference, British audiences can watch the Golden Globes at 1am GMT on 11 January 2023.

Broadcasting live on Peacock and NBC in the US means you are able to watch the ceremony through Sky or Now, this side of the pond.
