Is Good Morning Britain presenter Gordon Smart the next Piers Morgan?

If you tuned into Good Morning Britain earlier today, you might not have recognised the new presenter on your screens. He is Gordon Smart who is a broadcaster, journalist and editor.
The 42 year old first made his name when he became the youngest editor of The Sun’s Bizarre Showbiz column at 26.

Hide AdHe won showbiz reporter of the year and was appointed editor of The Scottish Sun in 2012. Gordon then became Deputy Editor of the National Edition in 2016.
Gordon has also hosted afternoon shows on talkSport and BBC Radio Scotland, as well as having his own evening show on Radio X, and Weekend Breakfast on BBC Radio 5.
On his Instagram Gordon wrote that he was “looking forward to making my debut hosting @gmb this Thursday and Friday with @charlottehawkins1 @itv”
Well known celebrities such as Laura Whitmore were quick to respond with a “Yes Gordon!!” followed by a clapping hands emoji. Stephen Manderson AKA Professor Green also offered his congratulations. “Yesss congrats bro!” followed by a heart emoji.

Hide AdThe obvious comparison between Gordon Smart and Piers Morgan is that they are both journalists turned presenters. Another similarity is that they both achieved success in journalism at a young age.
Gordon was the youngest editor of The Sun’s Bizarre Showbiz column at 26 and Piers Morgan was only 28 when he was appointed editor in chief of News of the World. Piers was the youngest national newspaper editor in the UK since 1937.
Gordon, who was born in Edinburgh, is married to Kate Leishman and the couple have two children together, a son Jimmie, and a daughter, Laurie.
It will be interesting to see what the next move will be in Gordon’s broadcasting career.
