They are two of ITV’s biggest presenters, but sources claim there is a 'rift' between Holly Willoughby and Amanda Holden and that the pair have never been close friends.

The Britain’s Got Talent star made a not-so-subtle dig at Holly’s statement about Phillip Schofiled on her return to This Morning. Amanda appeared to mock Holly on her Instagram stories after wearing a white outfit - like Holly wore -and asked fans ‘Are you ok?’ mimicking the This Morning Presenter.

Amanda has hit back at these claims of a 'rift' between them in an Instagram post she wrote "The story in The Sun today about Holly and I is completely made up, full of contradictions and just utter rubbish. Sadly this means every other paper will now write it too. So I have to put this up for a few hours to try and add perspective and truth.

"Sadly strong and intelligent women have for far too long been pitted against each other when we should all be celebrated in our own right. What a surprise the article is written by a MAN."

"The 'rift' story now circulating as a result of this article - which I have woken up to this morning and was not checked for factual correctness - simply does not exist. There have been some huge assumptions made this week and everyone has feasted on them."

In the post Amanda also explains how these 'types of articles' need to stop with the language around women is 'laughable'. She added that the world is being eroded of it's best qualities such as 'humour, backbone and truth.' The comments were turned off for this post but it has already gained over 20,000 likes.

According to The Sun sources claim that it is well known the pair don’t have any kind of relationship and tend to stay in their own friendship circles during ITV events. Holly is close friends with Christine Lampard, Emma Bunton and Tamzin Outhwaite. Whilst Amanda sticks to her own clique of Ashley Roberts, Alesha Dixon and Simon Cowell.

The insider explained: “They’ve been pitted against each other for certain big jobs, so there’s a competitive element which doesn’t lend itself to a friendship.”

“Both are highly ambitious but there are many traits in their personalities and their behaviour within the industry that secretly gripe one another. The Schofield drama has just brought their rivalry to the fore and Amanda, in particular, couldn’t resist making it public.”

Amanda fell out with Phillip after she lost out to Rochelle Humes. Rochelle filled in for Holly during the time she went to present I’m a Celebrity.
