‘A comedian and a politician walked into the camp’, normally sounds like the start of a badly written joke, however I’m A Celebrity viewers were searching for the punchline as two unlikely campmates in comedian Seann Walsh and MP Matt Hancock made their way into the jungle last night.

Seann’s first day in the Australian jungle proved hysterical as he could not contain his laughter as he welcomed Mr Hancock into camp and took part in their first trial together called Beastly Burrows.

While many know the face of the former health secretary, others may be confused as to who the stand-up comedian is, unless they were a fan of Strictly Come Dancing in 2018 when the 32-year-old took part.

Seann’s popularity may be resolved as his entrance comes after a long line of successful comedians who have featured on the ITV reality television show and gone on to big things.

Joel Dommett

Perhaps the most famous comedian to come out of the jungle is the 2016 runner up Joel Dommett, who finished in second place to Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt.

Not only did Joel’s jokes attract a large audience, but also his ripped physique that was put on display when the comedian showered.

Following his successful stint on the show, Joel sold out his live comedy tour and began hosting the I’m A Celebrity spin off show, Extra Camp, until 2019.

He has stayed in touch with ITV since his days completing Bushtucker trials as he presents multiple shows including Hey Tracey! And The Masked Singer.

Jenny Eclair

Comedienne Jenny Eclair revealed that when she signed up to I’m A Celebrity for its tenth season in 2010, her career was “looking shaky”.

However, her appearance on the show skyrocketed her job as it did with Joel, as Jenny wrote in the Radio Times that it was like taking a “career Viagra.”

Jenny benefitted in her stand up but she also benefited from taking part as the Loose Women star ended up coming third in the season.

Joe Pasquale

The theme of comedians excelling following their exit from the jungle started right back in 2004 when comedian Joe Pasquale won the whole series.

Known for his squeaky voice, Joe Pas-scaled down a ladder hanging from a helicopter during a Bushtucker trial while collecting every single star.

His trial success not only put him on the path to becoming King of the Jungle, and the first contestant ever to collect all stars, but also paved the way for sold out tours after the show as well as starring in various stage shows.
