Maya Jama certainly made sure nobody (including the Love Island contestants) and viewers could take their eyes off her as she sauntered into the villa to make her debut as the show’s new presenter. One thing for sure is that Maya certainly made her mark!

Although Love Island might be seen as the pinnacle of many presenters’ careers, this is clearly not the case when it comes to Maya and she is set for even greater success. If rumours are to be believed, she is set to launch her own range of non-alcoholic beverages that will be ready by the summer!

The range potentially might be called ‘Cling Cling’ after her infamous ‘Cling Cling muthaf***ers catchphrase.

Maya has already shown both her entrepreneurial and compassionate side as she launched T-shirts and hoodies with various designs of her catchphrase in 2019.

In June 2020, Maya announced on Twitter that 70% of the profits from her merchandise will be donated to support the Black Lives Matter movement. The other 30% went to domestic violence activist group Sister Cut.

Before making her debut as the Love Island presenter, Bristol-born Maya Jama already had a wide varied career. She had her own YouTube channel and worked on MTV as the host of MTV’s The Wrap Up. One of her career highlights to date has to be co-hosting the Mobo Awards in 2017 when she became the youngest person ever to co-host it, which is some achievement.

Maya was also a guest judge on the second season of the hit show RuPaul’s Drag Race. Although Maya has said about Love Island that she was “so excited to be hosting one of the nation’s favourite shows,” who knows how long it will be before Maya gets her next BIG TV gig? Judging by her current success, I am sure 2023 is set to be even more successful for the television presenter.
