How long have Jack Lowden and Saoirse Ronan been together? Actor stars in new BBC drama The Gold

Although Jack Lowden may have struck gold after his new BBC drama ‘The Gold’ premiered as a roaring success, the Scottish actor has often spoken about working to ‘achieve gold dust’ in the form of supporting his Hollywood actress girlfriend Saoirse Ronan.

And while Jack will be seen weekly alongside the likes of Hugh Bonneville and Dominic Cooper for the true-story crime drama, which has replaced Happy Valley in the Sunday night slot, Jack was seen on a dog walk with Saoirse on Monday morning.

Since meeting on the set of Mary Queen of Scots in 2018, the pair have rarely been seen together, opting to keep their relationship away from the spotlight.

Saoirse, known for notable credits such as Little Women, Ladybug or The Grand Budapest Hotel, took on one of the leading roles in Mary Queen of Scots opposite Margot Robbie, and was matched on-screen with none other than Jack Lowden.

Initially denying they had ‘chemistry’, the pair got closer behind the scenes before rumours started to circulate that they were together in January 2019, when they were seen at a Scottish pub called The Laurieston, come Mary Queen of Scots opening night.

In a tale of Scotland meets Ireland, Jack started to slowly post photos of Saoirse to his Instagram including a picture of the Academy Award nominee at the Met Gala, and a video in 2021 ahead of the England v Scotland Euros match where the couple recreated a scene from Mel Gibson’s Braveheart.

Despite posting occasional heart-warming photos and clips to their social media, the actors had not made a public appearance until January 2022 where they attended the Australian Open together as a couple.

Jack and Saoirse were Down Under as the latter was gearing up to film for a sci-fi thriller called Foe.

The pair not only see eye to eye on a personal level but also on a professional level, as Jack announced Saoirse would be taking on a role in a film made by his own production company - namely a memoir, ‘The Outrun’, produced by Arcade Pictures, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Throughout their relationship, Jack has spoken of how much he is in ‘awe’ of his girlfriend’s talent and compared Saoirse’s acting abilities to that of a Ferrari in a recent interview.

He said: “When you’re given a Ferrari like her, it’s all about how you make everything good for the Ferrari to show off. Don’t make a Ferrari do what a Renault Clio does. It’s a dreadful analogy but they’re like gold dust, good actors. When there’s someone like that, you just have to facilitate them and you will get gold. And my God, did we.”

However, it must be said that Jack is becoming a treasure of his own in terms of acting, as not only did the Dunkirk actor receive high praise for his role in BBC’s The Gold, but there are rumours he could be in the running for James Bond.

As for now, keep your eyes peeled for Jack in The Gold, before potentially finding him in the next ‘Goldfinger’.
