After nearly a decade, James Corden is bidding farewell to his Late Late Show and to the States as he believes ‘it’s time to come home’ with his family.
The Gavin and Stacey co-creator first prepared to move to the other side of the pond with his wife Julia and their then-two children in late 2014, as he was announced to succeed Craig Ferguson as the host for the CBS talk show for its fourth and final iteration.

With segments including Carpool Karaoke, Crosswalk the Musical, Spill Your Guts and Drop The Mic, James Corden managed to transform viewing figures on CBS with 1.66 million viewers tuning in to his debut episode on 24 March 2015 and the YouTube page reaching approximately 10 billion views as of 2022.
While the move has seen James seize bigger acting gigs like Ocean’s Eight, Trolls, Peter Rabbit and Prom, his show has also helped to establish some of the Hollywood elite.
For example, six years ago Billie Eilish made her first ever television performance on James Corden’s Late Late Show with her chart-topping single ‘Ocean Eyes’, with which she recapped when appearing on James’ penultimate episode last night.

Not to forget the measly $70 million net worth that James has amassed from his producing roles as well as acting and hosting.
However, James’ time State-side was not without some backlash as the star was criticised for being rude to restaurant staff in 2022, accused of stealing Ricky Gervais’ stand-up jokes and forced to apologise for making an ill-timed quip about Harvey Weinstein in 2017 at the AmfAR Gala.
As a result of the recent negative headlines and despite his success in the US, James’ popularity with the British public has been split and PR experts are now suggesting that when he returns home to focus on his family, he will have to go on the charm offensive to win them back.
