Before Chadlington came to light in Jeremy Clarkson’s Amazon Prime series ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ with its beautiful rolling hills, brick cottages and stunning sunsets, the small village that sits just a few miles south from Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire was once named one of the best places to live in the country.

The town that has three local shops, a sports club and a primary school was named as one of Sunday Times’ best places to live in 2018 and has had the likes of former Prime Minister David Cameron visit the area.

While Mr Cameron took part in Chadlington’s Great Brook Run where competitors race through a brook before sliding through a tunnel, another famous face has been closely linked to the area namely Jeremy Clarkson, who took over the management of his farm Diddly Squat in 2019.

Since then, thousands of people have flocked to Chadlington to visit the Diddly Squat Farm Shop (to some dispute by locals) and catch a glimpse of the village that the likes of Kaleb, Gerald and Cheerful Charlie call home.

With this, prices of homes in Chadlington and the surrounding areas have been rising slowly with properties on RightMove currently ranging from £590,000 to £1,100,000.

In fact in 2021, RightMove revealed that Chadlington was the third most searched for destination for people looking to buy or rent their next property, with searches peaking at 511% in June of that year.

However it is not just the attraction of Clarkson’s Farm that draws people in but the ‘good community spirit’ as Parish council chair Zoe Townsend previously said to Oxford Mail.

She said: “[Chadlington] has fantastic facilities: a sports club that does football and cricket, three shops and a primary school. It is very self sufficient. There’s a really good community spirit in the village. There are a lot of lovely people and we all look out for each other.”

The Oxford Mail reported that Zoe Townsend moved to Chadlington now 44 years ago to be with her husband John who was born and raised in the village.

Cllr Townsend added: “He’s something like the fifth generation of his family to live in the village…but also he was just happy with the life we lead here.”

If you are not looking to move to the area, Amazon Prime viewers will be transported back to Chadlington in season three of Clarkson's Farm sometime next year as Jeremy Clarkson confirmed the third instalment.
