Who is Jodie Comer's boyfriend James Burke as she wins wins Tony Award for Prima Facie

Jodie Comer, 30, has received a Tony award for her performance in the theatre show ‘Prima Facie’. The actress attended the award ceremony in New York with her brother Charlie Comer. Jodie debuted as the lead role in the West End, London before taking the show to Broadway, New York.  Jodie previously won an Olivier award for her role in the play.

The actress, who is best known for playing Villanelle in the spy-thriller Killing Eve, recently put the play on hold due to breathing difficulties during the New York air crisis when smog hit the city from the Canadian wildfires.

The Liverpudlian actress plays the lead role in the one-woman show about a lawyer named Tessa Ensler. Tess defends clients accused of sexual assault who later finds herself on the other side and seeking justice as a victim of rape. 

Jodie is very private when it comes to her personal life but is reportedly dating American James Burke, 29. The actress shared a cute snap of the couple in 2020.

Speaking to The Times in 2020, Jodie shared a rare glimpse into her relationship with James saying, “You know, I would never want to speak badly about people in my past, but yes, this relationship feels very different.”

"This feels like nothing else. When you actually feel it, you're like, 'Ahhh, so this is what it feels like!' And it was special.”

Who is James Burke? 

James was born in Duxbury, Massachusetts to parents Chris and Jim Burke he has two brothers Brendan and Brady. James went to Duxbury high school, he went on to study Communications Arts and Science at the Penn State University where he earned a bachelor's degree. 

Does he play Lacrosse Player?

James previously played lacrosse for his high school and university. He earned the Boston Herald's Massachusetts Player of the Year and Patriot League's Midfielder of the Year titles. James also played lacrosse for Laxachusetts but now appears to have left sports behind for a career in the tech industry.

How did he meet girlfriend Jodie Comer?

The couple allegedly met in Boston whilst Jodie was filming ‘Free Guy’ alongside Ryan Reynolds. The couple were rumoured to be dating in 2020 after a fan shared a picture of them together. Shortly after this picture was removed and led James to delete his Instagram account. 

The actress had to defend her boyfriend when fans claimed he was registered as a Republican voter - the political party that supports Donald Trump. In an interview with Net-a-Porter magazine Jodie said the information was false.
