This is the hot subject in the PeopleWorld office today. Would you return an engagement ring if the engagement is no longer on?

Maya Jama has reportedly been sent a legal letter demanding she returns the £800K engagement ring her ex-fiance Ben Simmons gave her last year.

The couple reportedly dated for seven months before basketball player Ben asked Maya to marry him over Christmas in 2021. According to reports, Maya was surprised that she was only being asked for that ring back now and is said to be making arrangements to return it to him.

This is of course not the first time in the celebrity world that an A-list star has broken off with their partner and kept the engagement ring or even sold it themselves. One such example is Pamela Anderson who auctioned off her engagement ring from ex-husband Rick Saloman in a bid to raise money for her foundation.

When Elin Nordegren split up from Tiger Woods, she also decided to not return the engagement ring and sold it instead, for a reported $2.5 million.

One such celebrity who did return her engagement ring (which may be the reason she is now married to Ben Affleck again) is J-Lo. She reportedly decided to return the 6.1-carat pink diamond Harry Winston engagement ring after the couple split up for the first time around.

Another star who returned her engagement ring is Kim Kardashian after her marriage to Kris Humphries ended after 72 days. She reportedly returned the Lorraine Schwartz engagement ring worth $2 million and he then auctioned off the ring for $620,000. Although he did get a lot of money back for the ring, he was certainly down on the deal!
