Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Netflix docuseries: trailer, release date, how to watch and what to expect

The first look for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Netflix docuseries has dropped.

It reveals that the show will premiere this month. The highly anticipated series was originally thought to be called Chapters but will be released under the title Harry & Meghan.

The trailer gave a dramatic look at behind the scenes of the intense scrutiny the couple have endured since their relationship began, and their life after stepping down as senior working members of the royal family. Harry, 38, and Meghan, 41, stepped down in September 2020.

The dramatic trailer opens with someone asking: “Why did you want to make this documentary?” to which Prince Harry responds: “No one sees what’s happening behind closed doors.”

Harry is seen sitting in a chair in a relaxed setting saying: “I had to do everything I could to protect my family.” After a dramatic flash of images including those of the Royal family, Meghan can then be seen saying: “When the stakes are this high - doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us?”

The couple signed a multi-million dollar deal with the streaming platform  which is rumoured to be in the region of approximately £88 million. The show has been directed by veteran filmmaker Liz Garbus who previously worked on Bobby Fischer Against The World, What Happened, Miss Simone? and Ariana Grande: Excuse Me, I Love You.

In her cover story interview with Variety’s October issue Meghan Markle spoke about the project saying: “It’s nice to be able to trust someone with our story — a seasoned director whose work I’ve long admired.

“My husband has never worked in this industry before. For me, having worked on ‘Suits,’ it’s so amazing to be around so much creative energy and to see how people work together and share their own points of view. That’s been really fun.”

She told The Cut in August that the story is: “The piece of my life I haven’t been able to share, that people haven’t been able to see, is our love story.” The trailer shows many moments between the couple.
