Moon Knight, a gritty new Marvel series about Steven Grant, a gift-shop employee who suffers from blackouts and visions from what seems to be another person’s life.

Grant realises that he has a personality disorder and shares his mind and body with a mercenary named Marc Spector.

Spector also turns out to be the avatar of Khonshu the Egyptian God of the moon and vengeance - on the plus side this means that Spector has superhuman abilities.

Throughout the series, Grant will have to get used to sharing his mind with a vengeful vigilante and learn to work with his darker personality to put an end to an evil scheme concocted by cult leader Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke.)

Grant/Spector are played by Oscar Isaac, who has previously starred in Ex-Machina and Dune.

The new series marks the first time Spector has appeared on screen, and his debut is a big budget affair.

The series is set primarily in London, but as Spector is pursued by Harrow, who believes Spector has an important artefact in his possession, we see the anti-hero chased across many far-flung locations.

Where was Moon Knight filmed?

The first two episodes of the series are set in and around London and feature a few notable landmarks.

However, whilst Steven Grant supposedly works at the British Museum, when he walks out of the museum doors he finds himself on Trafalgar Square, home to the National Gallery.

Nelson’s column makes a conspicuous cameo in this scene, proving that Grant is actually about a mile away from the British Museum.

However, the exterior of the British Museum does feature in one scene when Grant is on his way into work.

From episode three, Spector heads to Egypt - series director Mohamed Diab is Egyptian and previously criticised Wonder Woman for its depiction of the city.

Despite Diab finding fault with Wonder Woman, most of the shooting for the scenes in Cairo actually took place in the Jordan desert.

Diab said of Wonder Woman: “You never see Cairo. You always see Jordan shot for Cairo”, and yet in Moon Knight, Jordan’s Valley of the Moon stands in for the Egyptian desert.

Hungary - the main shooting location for Black Widow, which was set in Budapest, and for much of The Last Kingdom - also provided a backdrop for much of Moon Knight.

Madách Imre Square, along the river Danube in Budapest can be spotted in the show.

The metropolitan riverside town of Szentendre also features in the series, with Hawke’s character paying it a visit as he chases after Spector.

After filming wrapped in Hungary, production moved to America, with some scenes being filmed in Los Angeles, California, and Atlanta, Georgia.

Where can I watch Moon Knight?
