However, it had previously been confirmed that he would continue to present Piers Morgan’s Life Stories.
Who is taking over Life Stories?
Morgan revealed on social media that his final show will see him interview his former Good Morning Britain colleague Kate Garraway.
She will then go on to present three further episodes in the series.
Morgan tweeted: “I’m quitting Life Stories after 12 years and 100 shows.
“My final one will be with my fabulous friend @kategarraway and she will then present the remaining 3 planned shows of the next series as I leave ITV to host my new global daily show.
“It’s been a blast!”
Garraway said she is looking forward to hosting the programme.
“It’s a big job, but I’ve always loved having the chance to talk to people, both on air and off,” she said.
“Everyone has a story to tell and the wonderful thing about this show is that you have the airtime to delve into the areas of guests’ lives that the viewers might not know about already.
“It’s also a chance to understand more about the bits we do already know about (both good and bad) and hear it in their own words.”
Why is Piers Morgan quitting?
In Morgan’s tweet, he confirmed that he will be leaving ITV to host a new global daily show.
The TV presenter and journalist signed a deal last month to join News Corp and Fox News Media.
He will return to the network where he began his career over 30 years ago.
What is Piers Morgan’s new show about?
Morgan’s new global TV talk show will be a platform for debates, interviews and a forum that "celebrates the right of everyone to have an opinion”, News Corp said in a statement.
The TV show will air on talkTV when it launches in early 2022, airing on weeknights in the UK, US and Australia.
The newly announced channel will “be made widely available and will include a schedule of exciting new shows and televised content from the existing stable of News UK brands,” a statement said.
The 56-year-old will also publish two weekly columns, for the New York Post and the Sun, and will present a series of true crime documentaries.
Who is Kate Garraway?
Garraway co-presented GMTV from 2000 to 2010 and later became one of the presenters on Good Morning Britain.
She has also appeared on ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here’ in 2019 and has previously presented National Lottery draws on the BBC.
Garraway is married to Derek Draper who was struck down with coronavirus at the very beginning of the pandemic, in March 2020, and was treated in ICU.
While he did eventually overcome coronavirus, his body had already begun to shut down and he had slipped into a coma. In the months following, his kidneys failed, his liver and lungs were left damaged and his heart and pancreas were malfunctioning.
Garraway produced a critically-acclaimed documentary called Finding Derek which tells the story of her family’s struggles as her husband deals with the repercussions of Covid.
