The One Show and Shop Well For Less presenter Alex Jones was the first celebrity to be unmasked this series. She revealed her true identity after a performance of Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan.
The judges went for a mix of stars including Annie Mac, Jill Scott, Mary Berry, Bonnie Tyler, and Sara Cox but were left surprised when Alex lifted the mask. She told presenter Joel Dommett: “I’ve had a lot of fun. We love this programme as a family and I just thought to do it for the children would be wonderful. And it’s the most bizarre experience of my life!”
Episode two saw chart-topping rapper Professor Green unmasked from his Teabag costume. He had taken to the stage to perform Breakfast At Tiffany’s by Deep Blue Something earlier in the show.
The judges though it might’ve been Richard Osman, Dan Snow, Stephen Merchant, Rob Rinder, or Mike Tindall. So they were surprised when Professor Green was revealed to be under the mask, especially Maya who revealed the pair were close friends and only spoke four days before filming.

He told Joel after his unmasking: “It was quite fun, it was nice being able to hide behind a mask and just be silly for once and just really, really go for it. My son Slimane has no idea that I’m a giant teabag! He’s four-and-a-half so when he watched this he’s going to be like ‘what?‘”
He added: “Honestly, it’s been so much fun and I’m really happy with the fact that none of you [judges] guessed it was me! That was the win for me!”

During episode three, Sex Pistols legend John Lyndon was unmasked after being disguised under the Yak costume. The music icon had performed Physical by Olivia Newton John before singing That’s Amore by Dean Martin in the Sing-Off.
After being unmasked, John described his experience on the show as “unbelievable” but joked he was “glad to be out of most of this outfit”. He added: “I hoped the fun came across. Rather than going up there and doing sing-a-long and guess who I am straight away, I thought I’d show the other side of me. I’m the court jester by nature!”

Shakepears Sister legend Marcella Detroit was unmasked on episode four of The Masked Singer. The musician had been disguised as Gargoyle but was unmasked after losing the latest sing-off.
During a Halloween-themed week, Marcella had performed Bring Me To Life by Evanescence before performing Bad Reputation by Joan Jett in the sing-off against Sloth. After being unmasked, she launched into a rendition of the Shakespears Sister hit Stay as a nod to her famous former band. The judges had guessed name such as Ruby Wax, Chrissie Hynde and even ex-The Saturday members Frankie Bridge and Mollie King.
Following her unmasking, Marcella said that she took the offer of The Masked Singer as her and her husband had been looking for a reason to return to the UK, adding: “I also just thought it would be really fun!” She also said: “It was a great experience, everybody was wonderful. I feel really happy to be here in the UK and I can’t wait to come back.”

There was a double elimination in episode five that saw both Monkey Business and Arctic Fox leave the competition. Monkey Business turned out to be singer and actress Kate Nash. The Foundations chart-topper said: "I really enjoyed being the monkey. As soon as I saw the costume, I thought she was iconic!"
She added: "I was so nervous about it but then I got really nervous about the mask coming off and how it was going to feel singing without the mask. It's like a little comfort zone, you're not worrying about anything else when you're in there. It was a unique experience , it's going to be hard to give her up."

Arctic Fox was unmasked as Strictly Come Dancing legend Anton Du Beke. Following his elimination, Anton said on social media: “The rumours are true! You know me so well… maybe too well. I had the pleasure of performing as the Arctic Fox on ITV’s The Masked Singer. What a joy!”
In episode six, it was time to say goodbye to Red Panda. The cuddly firefighter left the competition following a performance of I Gotta Feeling by Black Eyed Peas. The secret celebrity underneath the mask was revealed to be beloved comedian Harry Hill.

After being unmasked, Harry admitted that he had been trying to disguise his distinctive voice as another star’s. He said: “Because my voice is quite well known, because I’ve done You’ve Been Framed, I think a lot of people recognise my voice more than me. So I thought, I’ve got to disguise it and Alan Carr came to me in a dream.
“I know Alan, he is a great friend of mine and he is going to be horrified when he sees this. Alan, if you’re watching, you’ve got to do this.”
Two celebrities were eliminated during the semi-final episode - Can of Worms and Sloth.

English broadcaster and adventurer Ben Fogle, 52, was unmasked as Sloth first, followed by Radio host and former JLS singer Marvin Humes, who was was unmasked as Can of Worms later in the episode.
Prior to his elimination, Humes performed two songs – a rendition of the Cha Cha Slide by DJ Casper, before a version of Ordinary People by John Legend. Judge Mo Gilligan was the only member of the panel to guess Humes’ identity correctly.
Following his unmasking, he said: “Been the best show I’ve been a part of. Thank you so much to everyone. It’s been amazing.”
“It was nice doing something by myself where singing was concerned. When the band (JLS) finished, I didn’t really do any solo music that way, so yeah, it’s been really cool”, he added.
Meanwhile, Fogle, who performed an enthusiastic rendition of We All Stand Together by Sir Paul McCartney and the Frog Chorus. None of the judges had guessed his identy correctly.
Fogle described the experience was “so joyous” and “so fun” after he was unmasked. He added that he was “so happy” to have got as far as he did in the competition.
