TV presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were all smiles today as they put on a brave face, but they aren’t fooling anyone. The This Morning hosts were the professionals today as they welcomed viewers and introduced the day’s lineup with the duo not mentioning the rumours at all.

I exclusively spoke to body language expert Adrianne Carter to find out her views on the subject and she explained that the presenters are “putting on polite smiles” for the cameras and acting “very professional”.

Adrianne said: “Phil is trying to hide his annoyance. We are seeing him pressing his lips a lot whereas Holly is doing a better job and looks a lot less awkward. Their eyes are firmly on the auto-cue and directly on the guests.”

Holly and Phil have reportedly been rowing for weeks and don’t even speak to each other after the camera’s stop filming.

According to Mail OnlineITV confirmed the pair would host Monday morning show after 48 hours of Crisis talks. Phil has also brought in lawyers and a top PR man to discuss his future  with the daytime show.

Former This Morning presenter Eamonn Holmes also waded in with his comments on the pair's falling out. He said "It's an institution, it will carry on no matter who presents it and anyone can check the viewing figures, there's no difference between whether they present it or anyone else."

The pair stood next to each other but there was a clear distance between them. Starting the show the host's spoke to Camilla Tominey and Gyles Brandreth about the day's headlines making the news.

Viewers were quick to react on Twitter as they watched the show, one person commented “Honestly, watching Camilla and Gyles dodge the elephant in the room is painful. Where is Matthew Wright when you need him?”

Another fan wrote “Why say that this segment is focusing on the top news stories when they’re still dancing around the obvious?”

The duo have presented the show since 2009 and would often holiday together with their families. Their relationship appeared to go downhill after the ‘queue gate’ scandal when the pair were accused of skipping the queue to see the Queen lying-in-state last September.

Holly was said to be blindsided after Phillip released a statement. It read “As I have said before, Holly is my rock. We’re the best of friends — as always, she is an incredible support on screen, behind the scenes and on the phone.

"Holly has always been there for me, through thick and thin. And I’ve been there for her. The last few weeks haven’t been easy for either of us.”
