Jeremy Clarkson set to have all-terrain UTV vehicle he previously owned go to auction - but for how much?
People in this article
The cult of personality that is Jeremy Clarkson might have a mighty fanbase supporting him, be it his tenure as the host of Top Gear, Amazon Video’s The Great Race or his most recent work, Clarkson’s Farm. Perhaps the last of those titles, and the toothache gaining planning permission from the local council for a host of work to be undertaken on Diddly Squat Farm, is the reason for this unusual auction that has been announced.

Hide AdAuction house Cheffins has announced that an amphibious UTV (utility terrain vehicle) once owned by Clarkson, will be up for auction at their Cambridge Vintage Sale on April 22 2023, with an estimated auction price set to fetch between £2,000 and £4,000. The vehicle, a 2005 Argo Avenger 8X8, complete with an operation manual, service manual, and safety video for the lucky winner of this unusual auction - unusual to our standards though, as for Cheffins’ Machinery and Vintage auctions this is just another Saturday.
The bad news though for fans who have just become enamoured with Clarkson through the success of Clarkson’s Farm is that unfortunately, the UTV has confirmed to not have been used at Diddly Squat Farm, but Tom Godsmark, associate at Cheffins, doesn’t think that is going to be much of a stumbling block in terms of demand.
In the write up for the auction on Cheffins website, Godsmark is quoted saying “UTVs are all-round good fun, but this one, with its previous life of having been owned by one of TV's most popular personalities, certainly gives it a whole new level of desirability. A true boy's toy, the Argo Avenger is one of the most iconic amphibious vehicles on the market, and we expect this to do well at our sale." Those interested parties wishing to make a bid on the unique piece of Top Gear history can register their interest by visiting Cheffins’ website and learn more about how to enter the auction proceedings. We’re curious if the proceeds might help with the permit problems occurring continuously at Diddly Squat Farm; legal help perhaps, Jeremy?
