Fans were left shocked after a fan favourite was eliminated in the semi final of the Great British Bake Off.

The final of the popular show will air on Tuesday 23 November and the remaining three bakers are hoping to impress and walk away with the Bake Off top prize.

Despite the talent being ridiculously high this year, viewers were shocked when fan-favourite Jurgen was voted out of the show in an extremely close semi final call.

The German baker had been a favourite for many to go onto win the show but was pipped to the post by fellow contestants Giuseppe, Chigs and Crystelle.

So, what can we expect from the Bake Off final? This is what you need to know.

What who made it to the Great British Bake Off Final?

Impressing the judges last week was Giuseppe, Chigs and Chrystelle, who were all given a place in the in grand final of the show.

Jurgen, who had been one of the hotly-tipped favourites to win the show, was sent home.

Although he impressed judges with elements in his challenges and even place first during the technical challenge, he was the only baker to not receive a “Hollywood handshake” during the episode.

Upon leaving, Jurgen said: “I feel kind of ok, I kind of saw it coming. I think the others are more shocked than I am.

“It’s been incredible. I really enjoyed being here as I made friends for life and I will be with them in spirit.”

Crystelle was awarded the Star Baker award for the episode after producing a Showstopper bake which judge Paul Hollywood described as “flawless”.

What challenges will bakers face in the final?

After a stressful semi final, the contestants won’t have much time to decompress.

The final of the Great British Bake Off traditionally doesn't have a theme, adn challenges won’t be revealed until closer to the day of the final.

The bakers will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of previous winner, such as 2020 winner 20-year-old Peter Sawkins, by impressing judges with their bakes.

Ex-contestants from the series and family and friends are also usually invited for a large garden party to celebrate the grand final and watch who is crowned the Great British Bake Off Champion.

Who is favourite to win the Great British Bake Off 2021?

Due to the pre-recorded nature of the show, however, many bookies are not taking bets on who walks away with the title.

Many took the decision to not allow for betting on the series after judge Prue Leith accidently revealed on Twitter the winner of the 2017 series before the episode had aired.

Following the shocking elimination of favourite Jurgen, many fans have thrown the backing behind Italian engineer Giuseppe to take the title, after performing consistently well throughout the series.

However, Crystelle and Chigs have both seriously impressed the judges and fans in recent weeks.

The past few weeks has seen hairs split between the tops and bottoms of the pack and given the shocking elimination in the semi final, anything could happen.
