The Pact season 2 follows social worker Christine Rees and her three children as they try to move on from the death of a fourth child. When a stranger comes to town and claims to be connected to them, their family loyalty is tested. Both seasons of The Pact were filmed in Wales with many popular and scenic locations across the country featuring in the series.

Where was The Pact season 2 filmed?

The first series was shot on location in Wales in late 2020 - locations included Rhymney Brewery, Blaenavon, the Brecon Beacons National Park, the Pontsarn Viaduct, Merthyr Tydfil, Pontsticill Reservoir, Monmouth, and Newport.

Season two of the show focuses on a different story and a fresh cast of characters, but is also set in Wales and was filmed on location. Much of season two was filmed in Cardiff and on the Vale of Glamorgan coast.

The family home where much of the drama takes place is located in Llantwit Major, a small town of about 10,000 people on the Bristol Channel coast. Filming also took place at the Welsh coastal town of Ogmore-by-Sea. Coastal scenes were also shot at Llantwit Major Beach, Dunraven Bay, Penarth Pier, Porthcawl, Swanbridge Bay Beach, and Barry, Vale of Glamorgan.

Filming locations from season two of The Pact will be recogniseable to many viewers from previous TV projects. The Vale of Glamorgan is a popular shooting location and has regularly featured in Doctor Who and 2000s sitcom Gavin and Stacy.

Writer and executive producer Pete McTighe said: "For me it was the overall coastal setting that was important, mainly as a contrast to series one. The environment for me is always a character. It’s really important on the page that there’s that sense of place.

"I think the Welsh coastline really gave us that. There’s something beautiful but also wistful and almost tragic about the Welsh coast. There is this mysticism and peace to it but then it also has this intense power and danger. That’s a really great combination. There are lots of scenes that are shot on the beach and along the cliffs. We really took advantage of that as much as we could and because we were so lucky with the weather it looks fantastic."

Which shows are being filmed in Wales?

Wales is a very popular filming location for British shows, especially for BBC projects as the company has a large studio in Cardiff. Other shows that have been filmed in Wales this year include the BBC crime thriller Wolf, the latest season of motoring show Top Gear, which was filmed in the Brecon Beacons, Amazon Prime mockumentary, Documentary Now! and the Steve Coogan Jimmy Saville drama The Reckoning.

Historical drama film War Games about Churchill’s war rooms was filmed at Bracelet Bay at Bay Studios in Swansea in March.

When is The Pact season 2 on TV?

There are six episodes in season two of The Pact, and they can all be watched on BBC iPlayer now, along with all of season one. Episodes are also airing on BBC One - episode three will air at 9pm on Monday 7 November. Later episodes will air at the same time weekly with the season two finale airing on 28 November.
