I’m A Celebrity returns for another series of witchetty grubs, bushtucker trials and squirming celebs - and this year the cast are camping out in Wales for another year.

The Welsh setting, Gwrych Castle, will make a return following unpredictable Covid restrictions in Australia.

Last year’s gamble of setting proved worth every cold night in the castle, as the show managed to secure some big names and 14.3 million viewers tuning in for the opening episode.

The line up in 2020 was second to none and the campmates seemed to genuinely bond over their rice and beans, making it a hard call when it came to evicting contestants.

So, which celebrity made for the most worthy watching and was crowned King or Queen of the Castle? Here is a recap, and a full list of previous winners since the ITV show began in 2002.

Who won I’m A Celebrity 2020?

The ITV show was first expected to be a fortnight of lockdown escapism for hopeful viewers, as it was expected to still take place in Australia.

However, the ongoing lockdown meant ITV had to stay at home too, and celebrities who would usually have been working on various projects were much more accessible.

Therefore, the lineup was full of potential winners, from Corrie legend Beverley Callard to EastEnders veteran Shane Richie and Family Fortunes’ Vernon Kay.

However, it was McFly guitarist and singer Tom Fletcher’s wife Giovanna Fletcher who stole the show.

She played to the viewers emotions with her caring, maternal warmth and positive attitude. From comforting campmates who missed their own brood to forfeiting a picture of her kids so she could win music for her fellow celebrities, everyone couldn’t help but love her attitude.

In the beginning, she had some big names to contend with, including Strictly’s AJ Prichard, Olympian Mo Farah and TV presenter Victoria Derbyshire.

Also in the 2020 line up was Paralympian Hollie Arnold, Musical theatre actress & singer Ruthie Henshall and Operatic tenor, Russell Watson.

In the end, it came down to Giovanna, Kay and Radio 1 DJ and self professed ‘Scaredy Cat’ Jordan North.

Vernon came third, leaving it down to North and Giovanna. Both seemed over the moon to be the final two and Fletcher’s shock when she was crowned Queen of the Castle was priceless.

Who is Giovanna Fletcher and what does she do?

While she may be the wife of McFly’s Tom, she is an entrepreneur, podcaster and influencer in her own right.

Mum’s the word when it comes to Giovanna, as she was best known before I’m A Celeb as a blogger and author of books such as Happy Mum Happy Baby and Letters on Motherhood.

She has also written a handful of fictional books, from ‘Always with Love’, to ‘Walking on Sunshine’.

Together, Giovanna and Tom share three sons, seven-year-old Buzz, Buddy, five, and three-year-old Max.

The pair met in school and have been together since they were teens, marrying in 2012.

The 36-year-old also hosts a hugely successful mothering podcast, in which she has interviewed stars from Jennifer Garner to the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton.
