Wim Hof Freeze The Fear contestants: who are celebrities in new series - from Holly Willoughby to Chelcee Grimes

Wim Hof, known as The Iceman, is an extreme athlete known for being able to withstand freezing temperatures for prolonged periods.

He is a proponent of the Wim Hof method which includes breathing techniques, yoga, meditation and frequent exposure to the cold.

Now, Hof will challenge eight celebrities to push their minds and bodies to the limit as they take on challenges in sub-zero conditions in the Italian mountains.

Who are the Freeze the Fear contestants?

Patrice Evra

Evra is a French football coach and former professional player, who played primarily as a left-back.

He played for Manchester United from 2006-2014 before moving to Juventus, and played for the French national team in the 2010 and 2014 World Cups.

Evra returned to Manchester United in 2019 as a trainee coach.

Gabby Logan

Logan is a sports presenter and former professional rhythmic gymnast who placed 11th representing Wales at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland.

She began presenting in the early 2000s, covering the 2005 and 2006  Champions League finals.

Logan joined BBC Sport in 2007, presenting Final Score from 2009-2013, has deputised for Gary Lineker on Match of the Day, and often fronts athletics coverage.

Alfie Boe

Boe is a tenor best known for performing as Jean Valjean in Les Misérables for the 25th anniversary concert.

He performed alongside Michael Ball in the English National Opera production of Kismet and has produced 13 studio albums, four of which featured Ball.

He has won a Tony award for his role in La bohème, as well as two Classic Brit awards, and has been nominated for a Grammy.

Tamzin Outhwaite

Outhwaite is known for playing Mel Owen in EastEnders on and off from 1998 to 2019.

She had also appeared in the ITV drama series The Fixer In 2009 and in the BBC sci-fi drama Paradox.

She took part in Over the Rainbow, a talent casting show for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Wizard of Oz production, and was on The Masked Dancer in 2021, coming fourth.

Owain Wyn Evans

Evans is a journalist, broadcaster who works as a weather presenter on North West Tonight and is a reporter for The One Show.

From 2020, Evans took on the role of weather presenter for BBC Breakfast and has also appeared on several BBC radio programmes since 2012.

Evans had played the drums as a hobby since he was a child and for Children in Need 2021 he completed a 24-hour drumathon, raising more than £3 million for the charity.

Dianne Buswell

Buswell is a professional dancer best known for appearing on the last five seasons of Strictly Come Dancing.

She and her celebrity partner Joe Sugg were runners up in season 16 of the show, losing to Oti Mabuse and comedian Bill Bailey.

Buswell and Sugg became an item after taking part in Strictly together, and the pair run a cooking channel on YouTube called In the Pan.

Professor Green

Stephen Paul Manderson, whose stage name is Professor Green, is a rapper, songwriter and TV personality.

He has released three studio albums - Read All About ft. Emeli Sandé, the first single from his second album At Your Inconvenience reached number one on the UK singles chart.

Green appeared in the documentary Suicide and Me where he spoke of the impact of his father’s suicide on him, and was the co-host of Lip Sync Battle UK from 2016-2018.

Chelcee Grimes

Grimes is a singer, songwriter, presenter and footballer.

She has written songs for artists such as Kesha, the Saturdays, Dua Lipa, Little Mix, and Olly Murs.

Over the course of her football career she has played for Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, Tranmere Rovers, Fulham, and Merseyrail Ladies.

Who are the hosts?

Lee Mack

Mack is an actor and comedian known for his appearances on a number of comedy panel shows.

He is a team captain on Would I Lie to You alongside David Mitchell, and has regularly appeared on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.

Mack also stars as a fictionalised version of himself in the sitcom Not Going Out which is currently in its 12th season.

Holly Willoughby

Willoughby is best known for presenting ITV breakfast show This Morning with Phillip Schofiel and spent 12 years as a team leader on the panel show Celebrity Juice.

She has also written several books including the children’s series School for Stars and an autobiography.

WIlloughby is a big fan of Wim Hof herself and has even tried out his breathing techniques.

The next episode of Freeze the Fear will air on BBC One at 9pm on 19 April.
