Fashion brand Mango plans to open 13 new stores across the UK - but who is CEO Toni Ruiz?

The much loved Spanish fashion label Mango has opened a brand new store inside the Westfields, Stratford City Mall in London. It’s part of a huge expansion plan to open 13 stores across the UK this year.

The high-street brand has already successfully opened new stores in Solihull, Bristol and Leeds in the first half of the year and will open more stores in major cities including Milton Keynes, Glasgow and London in the second half of 2023. 

The new stores will be based on the brand's ‘Mediterranean-inspired’ concept.

The shops will have different rooms similar to a typical Mediterranean home with warm and neutral colours. It will also consist of sustainable and natural materials such as ceramic, wood and marble. 

CEO (Chief Executive Officer) Toni Ruiz revealed his plans for expansion and strategy to refine the brand to WWD at the end of last year and it seems his plans are well underway. According to Forbes Toni joined Mango in 2015 as CFO (Chief Financial Officer) and was appointed General Manager of the company just three years later before being promoted to CEO in 2020.

Toni has many years of experience in the retail industry with a degree in Economics from the University of Barcelona and a Master's Degree in Economics and Business Management from the IESE Business School.

Mango was founded in 1984 by Isak Andic who opened the first store in Barcelona. The fashion brand has over 53 stores in the UK at the end of 2022. The brand has a huge selection of womenswear, men's, kids and homeware at affordable prices. 

Kate Moss has worked on several campaigns for the brand. Kate and model Cara Delevingne featured together in the Fall/Winter 2015 campaign. Other celebrity fans of Mango include Katie Holmes, Sienna Miller, Kaia Gerber, Gigi Hadid and Selena Gomez.
