

Covid hotspots: 15 UK areas with highest rates amid warnings of coronavirus third wave
Professor Adam Finn, an advisor on the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), warned that a ‘third wave’ of coronavirus infection “is definitely under way”, and stressed the race is on between the vaccine rollout and the highly transmissible variant first identified in India. It is hoped the infections will be brought under control now that the jab rollout has extended to anyone aged 18 and over, but many parts of the country are currently seeing a rise in cases. Listed are the 15 areas of the UK which have the highest rates of Covid-19 cases right now, based on the seven days up to 16 June. Images are for illustrative purposes.
