Covid booster rollout: the 15 areas of England falling behind on third doses of the vaccine

The acceleration of the booster rollout aims to curb the spread of Omicron but some local authorities are still lagging behind.

The Prime Minister announced on Sunday (12 December) that everyone aged 18 and over in England will be offered a booster from this week in a bid to slow the spread of the Omicron variant.

The target is to give a booster jab to all adults by the end of the month, Boris Johnson said in his address to the nation

According to the UK Government dashboard, which shows the most up to date figures at a national level, nearly 20 million adults in England had received a booster jab as of 11 December.

But millions are not yet fully protected against Omicron and there are wide geographical differences across the country, with some areas having much less protection than others.

Now as the Prime Minister declares an “Omicron emergency” we reveal which local authorities in England are falling behind in the vaccine rollout.

Population analysis is based on figures sourced from the Office for National Statistics and are estimates.
