Over 47 million people in the UK received at least one vaccine dose and the rollout has now been extended to 16 and 17 year-olds in England in a bid to boost immunity before pupils return to school in early September.
However, there are still millions of people who remain completely unvaccinated, while others are still waiting to receive their crucial second dose to ensure maximum protection.
If you have yet to take up the offer of a Covid-19 vaccine, or are due to attend your second appointment soon, it is normal to experience some side effects after your jab.
Symptoms are typically worse after the second dose, although some people may not notice any side effects at all.
Most symptoms are mild in nature and should usually last no longer than a week, but more rare side effects can occur in a very small number of cases.
People aged under 40 will be offered the Pfizer or Moderna Covid-19 vaccines, while older age groups may receive AstraZeneca.

1. Muscle pain

2. Joint pain

3. Redness and swelling
You may notice some redness on your arm around the site of the injection, along with swelling, tenderness, itching or bruising. This can be soothed by applying a cool, wet washcloth to the area. Light exercise can also help ease the pain. Photo: Hollie Adams
4. Tiredness
