The First Minister announced the changes to MSPs in a virtual sitting of the Scottish Parliament today that the country can move beyond Level 0 - the lowest level of Scotland’s five tier system of restrictions - thanks to the “steady decline” in coronavirus cases, coupled with the success of the vaccination rollout.
Listed are the full list of changes to lockdown rules that will take effect in Scotland on Monday 9 August.
5. Secondary schools
Face masks must be worn by secondary school pupils when schools return, and a one-metre social distancing rule will be in place but kept under review. Schools will also be required to have access to CO2 monitors to ensure appropriate ventilation, backed by £10 million of investment. Photo: OLI SCARFF
6. Lateral flow tests
Secondary school pupils and staff will be asked to take a lateral flow test one or two days before returning to classrooms, followed by testing twice per week thereafter. Photo: Jeff J Mitchell
7. Contact tracing
Contact tracing of positive cases will remain in place and pubs and restaurants must continue to collect customer details on entry. Photo: Christopher Furlong
8. Home working
Working from home will continue to be advised for the time being. The Scottish government is encouraging employers to consider a hybrid model of home and office working for the longer term. Photo: Shutterstock
