Covid hospital admissions: 13 areas of England with the most coronavirus patients in hospital
While the total number of patients in hospital with coronavirus is still some way below the peak of the second wave, when admissions reached a high of 4,134 on 12 January, NHS data reveals that increasing infections is gradually causing a rise in admissions. The government’s chief scientific adviser Sir Patrick Vallance said that the number of people in hospital with Covid-19 is expected to increase now that remaining lockdown restrictions have been lifted in England, but should not surge to the same extent as before thanks to the vaccination rollout. Listed are the 13 NHS trusts in England which currently have the most Covid-19 hospital patients, based on the latest data up to 13 July. Images are for illustrative purposes only.
