Revealed: the 15 UK areas where Covid cases fell the fastest in the last week

Although Covid cases continue to rise in some parts of the UK, some areas have recently seen a dramatic fall in infections.

These are the 15 areas of the UK where Covid cases have fallen the fastest in the seven days to 26 July compared to the seven days to 19 July, according to government data.

1. Carlisle

Carlisle recorded 257.6 cases per 100,000 people in the week to 26 July, a drop of 66% compared to the 758.2 recorded the week before. Photo: Shutterstock

2. Melton

Melton recorded 212.9 cases per 100,000 people in the week to 26 July, a drop of 63.2% compared to the 578 recorded the week before. Photo: Shutterstock
