The Government has said that it “expects and recommends” that shoppers continue to wear face coverings, but there will no longer be a legal requirement to do so.
A number of companies have since announced that they will be asking the public to continue to wear face coverings. Businesses and travel operators are able to set their own rules and regulations for customers and passengers regarding face masks.
13. Virgin Atlantic
A Virgin Atlantic spokesperson said: “The health and safety of our customers and crew remains Virgin Atlantic’s number one priority and we continuously review all our health measures. After carefully reviewing our policy in relation to face coverings onboard our flights, we will require all customers and crew to continue to wear face masks for the duration of their flights post 19 July.” Photo: BEN STANSALL
14. British Airways
A BA spokesperson said: “While we keep our policies under constant review, the safety of our customers and colleagues is always our priority, and we have no immediate plans to change our mask policy. 15. Greater Anglia trains

16. Brittany Ferries
The Brittany Ferries website states: “All passengers and crew must wear a mask in public areas, other than when they are seated to eat or drink. As a French flag company, we operate under French law and this ruling applies to all passengers aged 11 years or over.” Photo: Leon Neal
