But which rules won’t be changing and in what circumstances will some restrictions previously in place still be advised?
Here’s what you need to know.
1. Handwashing and surface cleaning
Businesses will still be encouraged to ask staff and customers to clean their hands regularly and clean surfaces that people touch on a regular basis. The Government will provide guidance on how businesses can reduce unnecessary contact in the workplace, where it is practical.
2. QR code check-ins
Although it will no longer be a legal requirement, businesses will be encouraged to display QR codes for customers to check-in using the NHS Covid-19 app, in order to support NHS Test and Trace.
3. Care homes
The Government will lift restrictions that limit each resident to five named visitors. However, specific guidance will advise how visits should be conducted to keep care homes safe, while also making visits as normal as possible. Care homes will need to keep in place infection prevention and control measures which are essential to protecting residents from the risk of infection.
4. Covid passports
Some countries will also still require travellers from the UK to show proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test - or both - before entry is permitted.
