Covid hospital cases: the 20 NHS hospitals in England with the highest number of coronavirus patients on ventilators

With more than three times as many people in the North East of England on ventilators than in the South East, we reveal the NHS trusts with the sickest Covid patients right now.

Data from the UK government Coronavirus Dashboard has revealed that some NHS Trusts in England have a higher proportion of patients with Covid on ventilators than others.

The Royal Papworth Hospital Foundation Trust had the highest proportion of patients on ventilators.

Between 22 and 28 September, it had a daily average of nine Covid patients in hospital and seven in mechanical ventilator beds at any one time – meaning an average of 83% of patients were on ventilators.
