

Covid hospital cases: the 20 NHS hospitals in England with the highest number of coronavirus patients on ventilators
Covid hospital patients in some parts of the country may be sicker and far more likely to need help breathing with ventilators than other parts, analysis by NationalWorld has revealed.
Data from the UK government Coronavirus Dashboard has revealed that some NHS Trusts in England have a higher proportion of patients with Covid on ventilators than others.
NationalWorld analysis also found that more than two-and-a-half times more people are in hospital with Covid and three times as many on ventilators in the North East of England and Yorkshire compared to parts of the South.
The Royal Papworth Hospital Foundation Trust had the highest proportion of patients on ventilators.
Between 22 and 28 September, it had a daily average of nine Covid patients in hospital and seven in mechanical ventilator beds at any one time – meaning an average of 83% of patients were on ventilators.

1. Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
