The vaccination programme for 16 and 17-year olds has been running since August 5

Regional gaps are emerging in uptake of Covid vaccines among England’s teengers, analysis by NationalWorld has revealed.

The latest figures from the NHS show vaccine uptake among under 18 year olds in England is the highest in Rutland.

So far, 12.8% of under 18s who live there have already received their first dose – more than one in eight.

On the other end of the spectrum, London boroughs - including Hackney and City of London - have recorded the lowest vaccination count for teens, relative to its population size.

Among the 65,971-strong under 18 population in the two boroughs, 2,110 had been given their first Covid jab.

This adds up to just 3.1%, the lowest in England.

The figures are based on the number of teenagers who have an NHS number, and are released every week.
