Whilst you enjoy your Sunday morning coffee and contemplate your plans for today, I am sure Victoria and David Beckham have an extra spring in their step right now. The reason you ask? Well they are back in the top 350 on the Sunday Times Rich List 2023.

According to The Sunday Times, “The former England football captain is considering entering the whisky, tequila and beer markets — following in the footsteps of LeBron James, Ryan Reynolds and Jay-Z. “Golden Balls” may be hoping for a similar return to George Clooney, who managed to sell a tequila brand he started with his buddies for a punchy $1 billion.”

As well as George Clooney making an absolute fortune, we all know also how that worked out for Hollywood star and Wrexham god Ryan Reynolds. He sold his gin brand back in 2020 for a cool $610 million deal, so perhaps David Beckham is definitely onto something?

For a while, it all looked like things were starting to go a little wrong for Brand Beckham after David made the decision to promote Qatar ahead of the World Cup in 2022 (a decision that was considered somewhat controversial, and that is putting it mildly!). However David Beckham seemed to redeem himself enormously from a public perception when he decided to queue with the general public for 13 hours to pay his respects to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The more cynical amongst us may say that this was a publicity stunt for Brand Beckham but Sky News did report that he wiped away a tear as he viewed the late Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin. “So this day was always going to be difficult, and it’s difficult for the nation, it’s difficult for everyone around the world, because I think everyone is feeling it, and our thoughts are with the family and obviously with everybody here today,” he said on the day.

The Sunday Times also revealed that “the US firm Authentic Brands paid £200 million for a 55 per cent stake in DB Ventures, Beckham’s brand management firm, in 2022. The deal has also given him a small stake in Authentic, which owns the rights to Elvis Presley and other icons. The Beckhams will be hoping this deal supercharges their future earnings in America.”

As for his wife, Victoria Beckham’s fashion brand, for many years, it has been seen as a hindrance to Brand Beckham, rather than a help, as he has been making losses for several years. However, Women’s Wear Daily reported in March of this year, that the “brand has hit a long-awaited milestone and turned profitable for the first time, according to the company’s private equity investor, NEO investment Partners.”
