Nicola Wilcox, Professional Hairdresser and Brand Executive at Capital Hair and Beauty, and Faisal Ahmed Hammadi, an expert Trichologist, have weighed in on the latest hair trend. They explain why hair masks are essential haircare steps, and if Rosemary is really the 'miracle oil' its made out to be

The Benefits of Hair Masks and Oils

Hair Masks

Nicola explains “Think of hair masks as a luxurious spa treatment for your hair! They deliver deep hydration, smoothing out frizz. Plus, they strengthen your strands, making them less prone to breakage and damage.

“Whether you’re looking to define your curls or protect against heat styling, a good hair mask can rejuvenate and transform your locks, leaving them soft, shiny, and healthy. “For maximum benefit from your hair mask, wrap your hair in a warm towel while it’s on. The heat will help the active ingredients penetrate more deeply.”

“Hair oils are also an excellent product for healthy shiny hair and helping to protect against humidity and heat. They can also be used to smooth frizz and add shine.

“Today's hair oils have evolved from the heavy, thick argan oils of the past, making it important to choose an oil that suits your specific hair type.

“A versatile option for all hair types is the K18 Molecular Repair Oil, which protects hair from heat up to 232°C. This lightweight oil reduces split ends by 78% and provides 24-hour frizz control.”

But what’s the real impact of rosemary oil on your hair? To get the lowdown, Faisal Ahmed Hammadi, a trichologist and curly hair expert, has provided his professional take on the viral trend:

Faisal said: “Rosemary oil has been shown to support hair growth by improving circulation to the scalp and having anti-inflammatory properties.

“And when used regularly, it can help strengthen hair follicles and promote thicker, healthier hair.

“It can be applied by diluting it with a carrier oil and massaging it into the scalp.”

Nicola Wilcox, Hairdresser and Brand Executive at Capital Hair and Beauty summarises: “While hair masks and oils are widely recommended for promoting healthier, shinier hair, and even encouraging hair growth, their effectiveness relies on correct use and frequency.

“Incorrect application can cause issues such as excess oil production or scalp dryness, so it's important to find the right balance. By selecting the appropriate products and using them properly, you can maximise their benefits and achieve stronger, more luscious hair.”
