Who is Roksanda? The designer behind Beyoncé's blue dress she wore at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium

As expected, Beyoncé's outfits for her first concert at Tottenham Hotspur stadium (as part of her Renaissance world tour) certainly did not disappoint, and one dress stood out in particular. The dress in question, a blue mesh number, was designed by Roksanda. 

Roksanda, yes, Roksanda, not the likes of Alexander McQueen, nor Balmain, designers she has favoured before. So, whilst the label Roksanda is familiar to me, it is clearly not a household designer brand, as of yet. 

Roksanda is however a label that has been loved by the likes of Catherine, Princess of Wales, Anne Hathaway, Blake Lively and Olivia Wilde for many years. The designer behind the brand Roksanda is Serbian fashion designer Roksanda Ilincic. According to the Business of Fashion, Roksanda “studied architecture and design at the Faculty of Applied Arts, University of Arts in Belgrade, before studying at Central Saint Martins in London in 1999, where she graduated with an MA in womenswear.”

Roksanda once told The Daily Telegraph that “People in London are so open-minded to any kind of creativity.” Following Beyoncé' choosing to wear Roksanda for her first concert at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, Roksanda said on her Instagram: “Thank you Mrs Carter for this magnificent moment-I am truly honoured. Incredible @beyonce in custom ROKSANDA for the opening London night of her ‘Renaissance tour,’ with a very emotional performance and tribute to another legend Tina Turner.”

Celebrities who were in the crowd at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium to see Beyoncé perform included Dua Lipa, and Kris Jenner who had jetted in to watch the star perform.

Other well known stars who have worn Roksanda's designs include Catherine, Princess of Wales, who wore a stunning yellow Roksanda dress when she went on a 2014 tour of Australia. Other high profile stars who have worn her designs include Blake Lively who wore a dress and coat by her in 2015 when she appeared on ‘Good Morning America’ in New York. Anne Hathaway chose a bold dress by Roksanda for the ‘Rio 2’ Miami premiere in 2014.
