Dua Lipa sets her sights on fashion as she collaborates with Donatella Versace for new La Vacanza collection

Dua Lipa stunned in a vintage Chanel dress at this year's Met Gala where she was co-chair at the biggest fashion event of the year. So it makes sense that the singer's next move would be stepping into a fashion designing role with none other than the legendary Donatella Versace.

The New Rules singer has co-designed the’ La Vacanza’ - which translates to Holiday in English - summer collection with the Italian designer. The items for the new range have not yet been revealed but are set to debut at a fashion show on the 23 May in Cannes, France.

Although it’s not part of the official Cannes the show will take place concurrently with the event which runs from 16 to 27 May. 

The womenswear collection will be available to buy directly from the Versace.com website immediately after the show. 

Dua shared her excitement over the collaboration, speaking to WWD she said “I am absolutely thrilled to have co-designed the women’s La Vacanza collection for Versace with Donatella. She and I have formed such a strong bond over the years, and I’m so grateful for the support I’ve received from her and the whole team since the very beginning of my career. 

“For her to give me the honour of co-designing this collection and letting all my summer inspirations go wild has been a dream. I am so very proud of this collection and cannot wait to debut it in Cannes.”

Chief creative officer of the Italian fashion house Donatella explained “I have always been inspired by a collaborative design process. Working with Dua on this collection has been very exciting and I love the dynamic between us”

It’s a partnership that completely makes sense, over the years Dua has featured as the face for the luxury brand in a 2021 campaign. The singer walked the runway for the first time in the Versace fashion show. 

The singer has worn the label several times on the red carpet. Attending the Grammy Awards in 2022 Dua wore the black bondage dress originally worn by Cindy Crawford at the MTV VMA’s in 1992.
