Florence Pugh wows in pink satin slip dress at the British Independent Film Awards as 90s trend reemerges

Florence Pugh ensured all eyes were on her as she arrived at the 25th British Independent Film Awards in a pink satin slip dress with a dramatic cape. The slip or cami dress as it is also known, is back in fashion after being made popular in the ‘90s.

Those who can cast their mind back to the ‘90s will remember the likes of Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and actress Drew Barrymore all wearing the iconic slip dress.

Normally crafted out of materials like silk and lace, it is not surprising that it is linked to lingerie style garments.

Although the slip dress was very fashionable in the ‘90s, it has of course been around a lot longer than that.

Women have been wearing slip dresses or slips for centuries underneath their clothing as they were once seen as a necessity, both to protect their modesty and to support their outer garments.

There have been some iconic ‘slip’ dress moments over the years, including when the late Princess Diana wore a Dior slip dress when she attended an evening in honour of an exhibition for Christian Dior at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Fast forward to 2022 and it would seem that Florence Pugh is not the only A-list star who is fond of the slip dress. Model Irina Shayk looked incredible in a chic black slip dress she wore to the 79th Venice International Film Festival in September of this year.

Irina’s dress featured a low back, spaghetti straps and a V neckline.

Now back to Florence Pugh’s sensational slip dress moment… The actress’s slip dress is from Rodarte’s Fall 2022 collection and is in a delicate pink shade. She accessorised the dress with lace-up heels.

Florence, who is currently single after splitting from boyfriend Zach Braff, recently starred alongside Harry Styles in the film Don’t Worry Darling. Florence’s reported kiss with Harry during the making of the movie is believed to have contributed to rumours of a feud between her and Olivia Wilde (who was in a relationship at the time with Harry).
