Every year I eagerly await awards season (this goes back to my childhood). However, I have a confession to make. I am of course interested to see who wins the big awards, but my main obsession is the DRESSES and the outfits in general.
If truth be known, more often than not, I often think that the stylists to the Hollywood stars could have chosen them more beautiful gowns, more striking accessories and more drool-worthy dresses. However there were nonetheless some fabulous outfits on display at the Golden Globes 2023.
Here are my top 10 best dressed of the night...
1. Margot Robbie in Chanel

Hide AdMargot Robbie looked simply sensational in a ‘pretty in pink’ Chanel dress. I believe that you either love or hate pink and I am definitely the former rather than the latter. If you are obsessed with fashion (like myself), you will be interested to read that the inspiration for Margo’s gown came from Chanel’s fall/winter 2022/23 haute couture collection where the gown was shown in black.
Margot was nominated for her night for her role in the movie Babylon. According to Vogue, her “latest Chanel moment feels thematically aligned with the acclaimed, Damien Chazelle-directed film, featuring a textural bodice and voluminous bottom slightly reminiscent of flapper dresses from the movie’s 1920s setting.”
Margot teamed her Chanel dress with 18K white gold and diamond earrings, a ring, and brooch, all by the fashion label. Her ‘Old Hollywood’ look was completed with red lipstick and her hair styled in a wavy look. So chic.
2. Jessica Chastain in Oscar de la Renta
It is not hard to see why Jessica Chastain’s Oscar de la Renta dress has already been dubbed the ‘Spider-Man’ gown. The strapless dress featured a silver sequined ‘spider web’ style design that gave me serious ‘Taylor Swift vibes’ (Taylor wore a shimmering mini dress also by Oscar de la Renta at the VMAs).

As for her hair she let the dress do the talking and kept it slicked back in a tight bun. When it came to jewellery, Jessica kept it minimal but went for some Gucci rings.
Actress Jessica was nominated on the night for Best Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television, in the mini series George & Tammy.
3. Viola Davis in Jason Wu
I love a pop of colour on the red carpet and Viola Davis’s Jason Wu royal blue gown certainly didn’t disappoint. In fact, I thought Viola, who was nominated for her starring role in The Woman King, looked nothing short of sensational.

Hide AdViola, who wore jewellery from Chopard, didn’t allow the rain to dampen her spirits. Unfortunately for her, the train on her gown got a little soaked that night. However, the actress ensured she was still all smiles as her dress deservedly won fashion plaudits.
Viola’s stylist and friend Elizabeth Stewart shared photographs of Viola getting ready on her Instagram. She paid tribute to Viola’s hair and makeup team, Lopez-Rivera and hairstylist Jamika Wilson.
4. Billy Porter in Christian Siriano
If anyone knows how to totally ‘steal the show’ on the red carpet, it is without question, Billy Porter. He gave a masterclass in ‘captivating the attention of the media’ by donning a fuschia velvet Christian Siriano tuxedo gown at the 80th Golden Globes. It was an homage to another of his iconic looks from The Oscars 2019 when he wore a black tuxedo gown.
5. Lily James in Atelier Versace
Confession time. I have to admit when I first saw Lily James on the red carpet, I wasn’t entirely convinced by her Atelier Versace red strapless gown. However, it has grown on me so much that I have to feature on PeopleWorld’s best dressed Golden Globes list.

Hide AdLike Margot, Lily seemed to be opting for the ‘Old Hollywood’ glamour look with a modern twist. The modern twist has to be the waist cutout that contrasts well with the billowing skirt.
A diamond choker and matching stud earrings completed the look. She kept her hair down and slightly curled at the ends.
6. Jenna Ortega in Gucci
Jenna Ortega’s Golden Globes debut seems to have divided the fashion world. Some seem to love it whereas others are not convinced. I personally think she looked amazing and very ‘Jenna.’ By that, I mean she opted for a look that seemed to very much suit her individual fashion style.
The Grecian style gown featured front cut-offs and was tan in colour. Her accessories included several silver necklaces, including a snake one.
7. Colman Domingo in Dolce & Gabbana

Hide AdWho says a suit has to be boring? Colman Domingo proved that suits can be very interesting as he looked seriously stylish in a Dolce & Gabbana all-black suit, embroidered with crystals and jewels. The Candyman posed on the red carpet with his husband, Raul?
8. Monica Barbaro in Dolce & Gabbana
Maverick star Monica Barbaro’s scarlet red Dolce & Gabbana gown was one of my favourite dresses of the next, if not my number one of the night. She looked an absolute vision in the strapless tulle gown and allowed the dress to be the star of the show as she opted for minimal jewellery.
9. Austin Butler in Gucci
Austin Butler took home a Golden Globe for his performance in Elvis and ensured that his outfit was worthy of an award too! He looked very stylish in a double-breasted three-piece tuxedo by Gucci. He accessorised the look with Cartier jewellery.
10. Angela Bassett in Pamella Roland
Another winner on the night was Angela Bassett who took home the award for best supporting actress for Blank Panther: Wakanda Forever. She also looked dazzling on the night in a silver Pamella Roland halter-neck dress. Her stylist Jennifer Austin teamed it with Chopard jewellery and Sarah Flint shoes.
