If you are planning a wardrobe refresh for (fingers crossed), the sunnier spring and summer days ahead, then you might want to think about adding something in powder blue as it is the colour of the moment. Yes I know dopamine dressing (think zingy feel good colours) has been a big fashion trend this year, but I can assure you that powder blue is BIG news too.

According to Editorialist ``Doubling as a neutral, powder blue first opened up for Fall/Winter 2022 at Fendi and Hermes, and contemporaries like 16 Arlington and Givenchy want you to keep it in rotation for spring. It’s seasonless and minimalist in nature, making it a tone that’ll get tons of mileage in your wardrobe.”

The Princess of Wales chose a beautiful powder blue Elie Saab dress for King Charles’ coronation garden party at Buckingham Palace and first wore the outfit for Royal Ascot in 2019. Blue was the colour of the choice for other royals too as Prince William also wore a blue tie. The Duchess of Edinburgh opted for a deeper shade of blue and wore a lace dress from Suzannah London (the same designer who created her coronation dress).

Although the Princess of Wales is a fan of powder blue, Hollywood stars have been embracing ice blue on the red carpet recently. Priyanka Chopra Jonas looked absolutely stunning in a gown from Nina Ricci’s fall/winter 2023 collection that she wore to a screening of her film, Love Again.

Margot Robbie also wore an ice blue Verasace dress to the Australian premiere of Babylon that had a thigh high slit. Although I am less keen on her ‘bikini’ top that she wore recently to the Chanel Cruise fashion show in Los Angeles, her blue dress was a definite hit for me.

Now, for someone who has more of a penchant for pink than blue, I think I might have to add a few powder blue items to my wardrobe in the coming weeks….
