The Princess has become a trailblazer for recycling old outfits and mixing them with high street brands. The red and white houndstooth coat was previously seen when Kate wore it on her and Prince William's 2018 tour of Scandinavia.
The coat has been compared to a similar one Princess Diana wore and Kate has been praised for her subtle tribute to the late Princess.
The Houndstooth design originated in Scotland in the 1800s it is sometimes referred to as Border Tartan. An ancient type of tartan, houndstooth is believed to have been originally made on a woven wool cloth.
