Could Kim Kardashian not be invited to the Met Gala 2023 following the reported guest list ban?

From the vintage Marilyn Monroe dress to the Balenciaga all-black outfit, Kim Kardashian has embraced the Met Gala themes for nearly a decade.

However, as Kim’s potential tenth Met Gala starts to get closer with the first Monday of May right around the corner, there have been doubts as to whether the Skims founder and the Kardashian-Jenner clan will be on the invite list.

The debate comes as sources close to Anna Wintour have allegedly told Page Six that the Vogue Editor-In-Chief is making a series of cuts to the guest list to ‘class-up’ the event, after a few controversial moments have led the focus of the pinnacle of fashion events to drift away from the clothes.

In recent years, fans have criticised the Met Gala for being overrun with influencers such as Kardashian’s friend Addison Rae, while last year’s Gala seemed to be dominated by headlines surrounding Kim Kardashian’s diet and dress.

The entire Kardashian-Jenner family walked the steps to the Met last year for the first time, with Khloe and Kourtney making their debut as the likes of Kim, Kendall, Kylie and Kris maintained their regular attendance.

If these reported sources are correct, this could be the first time in a decade that Kim has not been at the Met Gala after making her debut in 2013 with her then-husband Kanye West while pregnant with North.

Since then, in addition to making controversial headlines about fitting into Marilyn Monroe’s vintage 1962 dress, Kim has made statements at the Met Galas by wearing Balmain, Versace and Vivienne Westwood to name a few.

The 2023 theme is dedicated to the late Karl Lagerfeld, titled ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty’, with stars expected to wear either designs from his time at Patou, Chanel or Fendi among others, or designs inspired by him and Choupette.

Even though Anna Wintour is in charge of the guest list, this year sees Dua Lipa, Roger Federer, Michaela Coel and Penelope Cruz co-host the event before the exhibition opens on 5 May.

It must be noted that fans may not have to worry about Kim’s RSVP as other sources have responded to suggest that the rumours are not true regarding the reality TV family’s invite.

As Page Six reported that Vogue refused to comment, the only way to know whether the 2023 Met Gala, dedicated to the late Karl Lagerfeld, will be on the ‘Kards’ is by watching the famous red carpet on 1 May.
