You would think that global super-stardom and Grammy Awards would be enough for singers Lady Gaga and Rihanna, but it looks as though the beauty industry was calling them. And they're not the only singers that wanted to branch out into the cosmetics industry. We take a closer look at these musical icons that have all launched successful side hustles.

Lady Gaga - Haus Labs

Haus Labs was launched in 2019, the brand focuses on clean beauty, sustainability and planet conscious packaging. It brings  science and nature together to create high-performing products.

Speaking about her vision, Lady Gaga said “Haus Labs centres around the future of clean makeup, supercharged products with innovative formulations and novel ingredients.”

The Born This Way singer’s bestsellers range includes a ‘100% shade match guarantee’ foundation with over 50 shades to choose from (£44.99). Lip Lacquer in six shades (£25.99) and the ‘cutting-edge, clean bronzing powder’ that blurs and defines (£37.99).

Rihanna - Fenty

Fenty is the most successful celebrity beauty line and launched in 2017. Rihanna was inspired to create Fenty Beauty after years of experimenting with the best-of-the-best in beauty—and still seeing a void in the industry for products that performed across all skin types and tones.

Rihanna said that she wanted to make products so that “people everywhere would be included.”

Fenty Skin is also part of the range and more recently Rihanna has launched a new fragrance, Fenty Eau De Parfum which is described as ‘one of a kind’ fragrance (£125.00).

Selena Gomez - Rare Beauty

Not only did she sing about being ‘Rare’, Selena also launched her Rare Beauty range in 2019. The brand focuses on “breaking down unrealistic standards of perfection.”

On the website Selena explains “Rare Beauty can be more than a beauty brand—it can make an impact. I want us all to stop comparing ourselves to each other and just start embracing our own uniqueness.”

Ariana Grande - R.E.M  Beauty

Ariana Grande is as famous for her perfectly flicked eyeliner as she is for her high-ponytail and her singing career. So it's no wonder she launched R.E.M Beauty in 2021.

The brand promises to be the “next generation of efficacious, ethical, thoughtful formulas and packages that help people everywhere.”

Although the makeup range is quite big, only a few of the products are available to buy in the UK from luxury department store Selfridges.

We hope the full range will be available in the UK soon.

Gwen Stefani - GXVE

The former No Doubt singer's red lipstick is iconic and you can get the look too. Inspired by her life-long makeup obsession Gwen launched GXVE in 2022.

Gwen explained to Today why she started her beauty line “There was something that was in me that said you're not going to be happy unless you're doing something creative with your life and something that you feel is meaningful, and for me, that was this line."

The bestsellers includes XTRA Sauce Vinyl Liquid Lipstick (£20.00), Can't Stop Staring Lengthening & Lifting Mascara (£21.00) and the Most Def Instant Definition Sculpting Brow Pencil in several shades (£20.00).
