Michelle Yeoh  was literally left speechless after winning Best Lead Performance at the 2023 Film Independent Spirit Awards. The 60 year old star, who has already won a Golden Globe and a SAG award for her portrayal of Evelyn in Everything Everywhere All At Once, was naturally very emotional when she picked up the awards. “Thank you. This is from my peers who are in it with me from day one, so it is so special,” she said. “Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.”

Everything Everywhere All At Once won an incredible seven awards at the event, including Best Supporting Performance for Ke Huy Quan’s portrayal of Waymond Wang. For the 2023 Film Independent Spirit Awards, acting categories were made gender-neutral.

Although Michelle Yeoh was on PeopleWorld’s worst dressed list for the SAG Awards, she redeemed herself with the Gucci dress. One of my favourite looks of the night was Canadian actress Taylor Russell’s exquisitely stunning Loewe black dress. For someone who is not normally a fan of black, I think she managed to look chic but fashion forward at the same time, no easy feat!

Other stars on PeopleWorld’s best dressed list include British actress Claire Foy who dazzled in a silver sequined Carolina Herrera gown and of course my red carpet favourite, Jodie Turner-Smith who opted for a flapper style Elie Saab Haute Couture feathered mini dress.

I also adored Michaela Jaé Rodriguez’s cute burgundy mini dress. Michaela who became the first transgender woman to receive a Golden Globe last month completed her look with gold jewellery and gold high heeled shoes.

Irish actor Paul Mescal also looked the part in a Gucci outfit that consisted of a blue jacket, baggy black trousers (very of the moment), pointed black shoes and what looked like a white vest, which has become somewhat of a trademark for him.
