Kate Middleton shows no sign of tiring of wearing a trouser suit in 2023. For her meeting (alongside Prince William) to welcome the Norwegian royal couple at Windsor Castle, she dressed to impress in a Burberry green trouser suit and matching blouse.

Princess Mette-Marit in contrast opted for a red dress, a choice of colour that Kate Middleton is sure to approve of as she was only wearing red yesterday for St David’s Day. Kate made sure she recycled something for the occasion today as she has worn the green pussy bow blouse from Burberry before.

Kate Middleton has clearly developed a bit of a love affair with trouser suits. She looked super chic at Windsor Castle recently in an Alexander McQueen trouser suit when she met experts in childhood development, which has become a cornerstone of her royal work.

Kate also wore an Alexander McQueen trouser suit when she stepped off the plane with Prince William last year for their USA tour.

Although she has worn Alexander McQueen on numerous occasions, Catherine’s choice for her arrival was pared back and subtle.

Although this was the first time that Catherine had worn the McQueen suit in midnight blue, she has worn it in other colours on other occasions.

She wore a pink version last June when she discussed her early years work in London and wore it in white when she was on the royal tour to Jamaica in March.

When it came to her jewellery, Catherine paid tribute to her later mother-in-law, Princess Diana by wearing sapphire and diamond earrings that once belonged to her. Princess Diana memorably wore the earrings with a navy Dior dress (same colour as Catherine’s suit) on one of her last visits to the States in 1996.

Catherine is not the only royal who is embracing the trouser suit trend. Some royal fans believe that she might have taken her inspiration from her sister-in-law Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, who is also a fan of trouser suits. Some have even said that Catherine’s Alexander McQueen trouser suit bore an uncanny resemblance to a trouser suit that the Duchess of Sussex wore during a trip to New York in September 2021.

Other international royals who have a penchant for a trouser suit include Queen Letizia of Spain and Princess Mary of Denmark who Catherine, Princess of Wales, is often compared to from a style perspective.

It would also seem that the trouser suit is also proving popularity beyond the royal world. Zendaya is a fan of both Alexander McQueen and the power trouser suit and looked stunning when she wore a pink McQueen suit back in December 2021.

Kate Hudson also rocked a n oversized navy blazer and matching trousers when she attended Netflix’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery Tastemaker screening in Los Angeles recently.
