When Roger Federer was announced to be this year's Met Gala co-chair alongside actresses Penélope Cruz, Michaela Coel, and singer Dua Lipa it seemed an obvious choice.
The Swiss tennis ace who recently retired from the sport has a close friendship with Vogue editor-in Chief Anna Wintour. The editor has made no secret that she is a huge tennis fan herself and describes herself as a Roger Federer ‘groupie.’

Over the years the record breaking tennis player has been a regular guest of Anna’s and attended fashion shows including Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Versace and Alexander McQueen. His wife Mirka has also accompanied the Vogue Editor to an Oscar de la Renta show.
Roger and Mirka previously attended the Met Gala in 2017, but this will be the first year he’s been asked to co-chair. He previously wore a tuxedo jacket with bejewelled cobra design on the back designed by Alessandro Michele.
It’s safe to say Roger is no stranger when it comes to fashion and he is the most stylish tennis player in the world. But that's not the only reason he will be this year's co-chair.

As well as investing in the brand, he has been working with them to create ‘The Roger Centre Court 0-Series.’ The vegan friendly sneakers cost from £180 from luxury department store Selfridges.
Speaking about the launch of the sneakers Roger said ““The minimalist design and easy comfort of On’s shoes had me hooked years ago. I wanted to infuse the tennis sneaker with the same lightness, comfort and agility for every day.”
The 20 times Grand Slam winner is also branching out into designing accessories. Roger will be partnering with luxury eyewear brand Oliver's People to create an “exclusive eyewear collection.”
Roger explained “I am thrilled to collaborate with Oliver Peoples. I’ve been a fan of the brand for years and have always appreciated their exceptional craftsmanship alongside timeless, elegant designs.”
