Aldi recalls salmon fillets warning customers they are ‘unsafe to eat’ - what to do if you have bought any
Aldi is recalling salmon fillets sold by the budget supermarket, warning customers they are ‘unsafe to eat’ - what to do if you have bought any.
Salmon sold at a budget supermarket giant Aldi has been recalled with customers urged not to eat it - as some packs feature the incorrect use-by date. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has highlighted the chain's recall of packs of salmon fillets which include the incorrect details due to a "labelling error".
Aldi said the affected product was a 180g The Fishmonger Hot Smoked 2 Salmon Fillets – Honey Roasted with a use-by date of June 25, 2026. "This product is labelled with an incorrect use-by date of 25 June 2026 which makes it unsafe to eat after the correct use-by date of 25 April 2026," the FSA said.
It said Aldi is recalling the product, with notices will "displayed in all retail stores" which "explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product".

The FSA added: "If you have bought the above product, please do not consume it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was purchased for a full refund."
What is a product recall?
If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return the product). The FSA issues Product Recall Information Notices to let consumers and local authorities know about problems associated with food. In some cases, a 'Food Alert for Action' is issued. This provides local authorities with details of specific action to be taken on behalf of consumers.
