Morrisons recalling packets of cashew nuts as they may contain glass - what to do if you have bought any
A supermarket is recalling packets of nuts over fears they may contain pieces of glass - here’s what to do if you have bought any.
Packets of cashew nuts are being recalled by supermarket giant Morrisons as they may contain glass. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) said the chain was urging customers to discard 125g bags of Morrisons Savers Cashews, or return them to stores for a full refund.
Possible affected packs have a best before date of August 9 2026, September 6 2026, September 26 2026, September 28 2026, or October 9 2026, with the FSA warning of the "possible presence of glass in the product which makes it unsafe to eat".
"If you have bought the above product do not consume it. Instead, return it to the nearest store for a full refund," the agency added. "Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling it. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought it."
Morrisons said: "Please do not eat this product and return it to your nearest store for a full refund. We do not need a receipt. No other products are affected by this issue. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety."

What is a food recall?
There are a number of reasons food can be recalled, for example contamination with pathogens that could cause food poisoning such as listeria or salmonella, or, like the cashews above, because of manufacturing faults such as plastic, metal or glass being found in the product. Incorrect or missing allergen information can also lead to an allergen recall.
Food businesses must recall unsafe products and the FSA works closely with local authorities and the food industry to publish alerts when this happens. Recall notifications include information about what the risk is and advice on what to do to customers who have bought the affected product.
