Tesco plastic contamination dessert “unsafe to eat”: Supermarket's Finest Summer Edition Chocolate Affogato Dessert recalled

A Tesco dessert has been contaminated with plastic leading to the supermarket giant urgently recalling the product and issuing a ‘do not eat’ warning - what to do if you have bought one.

Plastic has contaminated a chocolate dessert sold at supermarket giant Tesco. The product is being recalled , according to the Food Standards Agency (FSA) who said the retailer was asking customers to return 538g packs of the Tesco Finest Summer Edition Chocolate Affogato Dessert "because it may contain pieces of plastic".

The recall applies to products with best before dates up to and including April 2027. "This product may contain pieces of plastic which makes the product unsafe to eat," the FSA said.

"Tesco is recalling the above product and has issued a recall notice to alert customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product."
