Halfords free MOT: how to get a free car check worth £40 - and when offer expires

Drivers can book an MOT test worth £40 for free at Halfords.

The major retailer is offering the deal to all of its customers who buy anything from one of its stores in person or online by Monday 19 April.

Time maybe running out on making a purchase but customers have until May to book the MOT for tests to be carried out up to November 2021.

How do I get a free MOT voucher?

The offer is available to all Halfords customers in England, Scotland and Wales who make a purchase online or in-store, including click and collect, by Monday 19 April 2021.

Once the purchase is made customers will receive a receipt via email and then a subsequent email withing seven days of the transaction with an e-voucher code for a free MOT.

How do I book a free MOT at Halfords?

Drivers wanting to claim a free MOT test from Halfords can click on to the retailer's website and select 'MOT' from the menu options on the left hand side.

To get a free MOT, choose the option of a MOT test currently priced at £39.85 - down from £54.85 - enter your vehicle registration number and select your closest store.

It will take you to your basket where you can proceed to the checkout and enter your unique voucher code sent via email in the promo code box to get the MOT for free.

MOT bookings are subject to availability and re-test fees apply.

What Halfords stores can I book my vehicle in?

The MOT can only be done at one of the 350+ Halfords Autocentres across England, Wales and Scotland. The offer doesn't include Northern Ireland stores.

When is the latest date I can book a MOT?

Customers have until 11.59pm on Monday 19 April to make a Halfords purchase to qualify for the free MOT voucher.

From there, customers must book their free MOT by 11.59pm on 21 May 2021 for a slot up to and including 21 November 2021.

Is there a limit on how many vouchers available?

There is no limit on the number of vouchers available or restrictions on how many vouchers each customer can have, provided multiple purchases are made.

It means households with more than one car can get a free MOT voucher for multiple cars if multiple purchases are made before Monday 19 April.

Two cars? Make two separate purchases to get two seperate free MOT vouchers.

Yet if something is returned then this will invalidate the free MOT offer, Halfords state.
