Plus size lingerie brand Oola Lingerie listed itsfull collection online with high-end retailer John Lewis earlier this month, after a successful first seven months of trading.
The brand, which makes luxury lingerie specifically for ladies dress size 14 to 32 and with a bra size of 38 to 46 and cup size D to G, is now also looking for a new real lady to model for them.
The lingerie brand offers stylish, contemporary and colourful underwear for plus size figures, was founded by designers Sarah Maskell and Tiggy Derham, who have over 20 years of design, development, production and plus size retail experience between them.
They pride their brand on being for women and made by women.
Sarah said: “At Oola, we treat each and every bra we create as a bespoke work of art: something to be celebrated, that’s luxurious, contemporary and desirable.
“Something that’s, quite simply, beautiful. But for us, great design goes beyond beauty – it’s about incorporating sensational support, tailored fit and built-in comfort.”
Tiggy, who had what she described as a ‘long and really enjoyable’ career at Arcadia across Dorothy Perkins and Evans, said: “When it comes to plus size bras, that means modelling every new design on real women who all have very different shapes and sizes. It means going back to the drawing board again and again until every last detail is perfected.
“And most importantly, it means genuinely understanding the fuller figure and knowing how to accentuate and celebrate it, in a way that’ll make every curve look and feel fabulous.”
The duo decided they wanted to develop a product range that showcases their expertise and a desire for great fit and comfort for the lady with a curvy figure.
They said that what they want ‘more than anything’ is for their designs to bring ladies confidence and celebrate exactly who they are’.
Tiggy said their previous work in the plus size market had allowed them to see a gap in the market - and they were able to use their experience to create their brand and offer fully figured ladies something they had not previously had.
She said: “We are both passionate that all sizes are represented and we both believe that the lingerie market for sizes above a back size 38 were not in line with what was being offered below a 38.
“Styles were either overtly sexy or designs were old and a bit frumpy. What was lacking was good fitting, contemporary styles of high quality.”
Oola Lingerie was launched in November 2020, while the country was still in lockdown, but it has steadily grown since then.
Speaking about the new launch with John Lewis, Sarah, who has also worked previously for Arcadia as well as in product development for Victoria’s Secret, added: “To be listed with such a prestigious retailer is a huge honour, especially after just seven months of trading and launching during a pandemic.
“We have had great feedback from the buying team at John Lewis about our range and we can’t wait to bring our great offering to their customer base.”
Oola Plus Size Lingerie is available to purchase from John Lewis online now. The brand is also available to purchase with online retailers Live Unlimited, Silkfred and Brastop, with several other well known retailers in the pipeline.
